Gijón unveils a top-class 2025 Begoña Fair
The El Bibio Bullring – also known as Gijón Arena – has officially announced the line-up for the 2025 Begoña Bullfighting Fair. This prestigious series will take place from 13 to 17 August and includes three bullfights (corridas), one novice bullfight with picadors (novillada picada), and a horseback bullfighting event (rejoneo).
Returning this year are the same highly acclaimed bull ranches (ganaderías) from last season: La Quinta, Núñez del Cuvillo and Puerto de San Lorenzo / La Ventana del Puerto. Making their debut are La Cercada for the novice bullfight, and Ribeiro Telles, one of Portugal’s leading rejoneo studs, for the mounted event.
The line-up of matadors includes top names from the 2025 season so far: Morante de la Puebla, Andrés Roca Rey, José María Manzanares, Alejandro Talavante, Juan Ortega, Pablo Aguado, and Tomás Rufo. Two notable additions are Emilio de Justo, an established Spanish star, and Clemente, one of the most exciting French bullfighters of the moment – both making their debut in the Gijón ring.
The novillada will feature three of the most promising young talents this season, while the rejoneo event will see the return of the world’s leading figure in the art of horseback bullfighting, Diego Ventura, alongside two top Portuguese riders: Rui Fernandes and João Ribeiro Telles.
The fair was officially presented by journalist Germán Estela and renowned matador Juan José Padilla, who also received the “40th Tranvía de Oro” award from Peña Cocheras for his 2018 season. The event was attended by Gijón’s mayor Carmen Moriyón, as well as Councillor for Institutional Relations Jorge González-Palacios and the fair’s organiser, businessman Carlos Zúñiga.

Duration of the show: 120 minutes
Go to the show 1-2 hours in advance to avoid queues and crowds, so you will be able to find your seat without any problems.
Tickets in paper format are to be submitted in printed format only. This format cannot be submitted on mobile devices. The venue may refuse access to the venue if entries are not submitted in paper format.
