Why is the Hispanic Heritage Day celebrated?

The Hispanic Heritage Day or National Day of Spain is celebrated every October 12 to commemorate the discovery of America. It is a celebration of Hispanic culture beyond European boundaries, a very special day for any Spanish and Spanish speakers.
