This Saturday, the company MaxiToro officially presented the full line-up for the upcoming 2025 San Julián Fair during the traditional Abonado Day, held at the Cuenca bullring. The event, exclusively for season ticket holders, included a social gathering that lasted from the afternoon well into the night, with entertainment for all ages, free dinner, heifer releases and live shows.
The highlight of the evening came at 10:30pm with the official unveiling of the posters, once again hosted by journalist Iñaki Cano. Several public officials attended, including the Vice-President of Castilla-La Mancha, José Luis Martínez Guijarro; the Regional Delegate in Cuenca, Marian López; and bullfighting impresario Maximino Pérez.
A 'Champions League' style fair
The fair will begin on 22 August with a traditional recortes competition. The following day, Saturday 23rd, a becerrada (novice bullfight) in practical class format will be held, with free entry for season ticket holders, featuring promising young talents.
On Sunday 24th, the focus will turn to rejoneo (horseback bullfighting), with a stellar line-up: Diego Ventura, Andy Cartagena and Lea Vicens facing bulls from the Benítez Cubero ranch.
Monday 25th will take on a more torista tone, with a breeder's challenge between Baltasar Ibán and Montalvo, featuring Uceda Leal, the Málaga-born Fortes, and local talent Alejandro Peñaranda.
One of the most anticipated dates is Tuesday 26th, with a luxury billing: Morante de la Puebla, Fernando Adrián and Roca Rey, fighting bulls from Román Sorando.
On Wednesday 27th, bulls from El Pilar will be fought by Alejandro Talavante, Juan Ortega and rising star Marco Pérez, one of the most exciting newcomers on the scene.
The fair will close on Thursday 28th with a mixed bullfight: bulls and novillos from La Palmosilla for José María Manzanares, Cayetano (in his farewell performance in Cuenca), and novillera Olga Casado.
Additionally, on the nights of 23, 26, 27 and 28 August, there will be night-time vaquilla (young heifer) releases, with tickets priced at €5.
