Arnedo announces the dates and names for a new edition of the Zapato de Oro
The countdown is now underway to one of the key fixtures in the novillada calendar. Arnedo has officially unveiled the line-ups for the 51st edition of the Zapato de Oro Novillada Festival, which will take place at the Arnedo Arena from 27 September to 2 October.
The presentation was held on Juan Carlos I Street in an event open to the public, giving local aficionados the opportunity to discover the details of a four-afternoon programme featuring a dozen young bullfighters looking to establish themselves on the professional circuit.
The event was hosted by journalist Isabel Saúco, with representatives from Arnedo Town Council, the Municipal Bullfighting Council and the company managing the Arnedo Arena in attendance.
Several of the novilleros appearing in the festival also took part in the event, including Nacho Torrejón, Ruiz de Velasco, Alberto Donaire, Samuel Castrejón and Manuel Domínguez, who met with local aficionados during the presentation.
Four afternoons and four different breeding lines
One of the main attractions of the 2026 Zapato de Oro will be the variety of its livestock. The festival will feature bulls from Los Maños, Murteira Grave, El Retamar and El Montecillo, with each breeding ranch presenting a different challenge for the young bullfighters.
The festival will open on Sunday 27 September with novillos from Los Maños for López Peregrino, Alberto Donaire and Tomás González.
The following day, Monday 28 September, will see Murteira Grave take centre stage. Mario Vilau, Ruiz de Velasco and Manuel Quintana will face its novillos.
After a short break, the festival will resume on Thursday 1 October with livestock from El Retamar and a line-up featuring Emiliano Osornio, Álvaro Serrano and Manuel Domínguez.
The final novillada is scheduled for Friday 2 October, with novillos from El Montecillo for Nacho Torrejón, Jorge Hurtado and Samuel Castrejón.
Arnedo Arena, a stage for the next generation
Once again, the Zapato de Oro places Arnedo firmly on the map for aficionados following the novillada circuit during the final days of September and the beginning of October.
The festival combines young names with breeding ranches of different backgrounds, while keeping the novillada at the heart of the programme. It remains an important event for bullfighters seeking to make their mark and progress in the profession.
The official presentation has now put the four line-ups firmly in the spotlight, bringing some of the festival's leading protagonists closer to the local public ahead of the return of the paseíllo at the Arnedo Arena.
